Why is there a winmine decomp if the source already leaked

Can’t the author just a be a little naughty, and steal some of the source code? Do they use the source code as a comparison? Seems like a lot of reinventing wheels

According to the project README, he didn't know there was a leak when he made it, and he mostly just did it for fun/challenge anyway. I don't think it's any deeper than that.
