Potential Uncompressed World Textures
Potential Uncompressed World Textures
Since a lot of games from the 90's used textures from texture CD's, I wonder if there's a possibility of finding the original CD's of LEGO Island (grass, rocks, beach, etc), and getting uncompressed textures/full images (depending on how the developers put the images into the game).
Re: Potential Uncompressed World Textures
How would we even figure out which texture CDs they used? And besides, didn't they mostly use simple textures with just colors for stuff like that?
Re: Potential Uncompressed World Textures
My best guess is by just throwing out stuff at the wall and looking through texture CDs from around the time, really.
Can't be too hard, right? (he says, not expecting how hard it'd probably be to locate those CDs in the first place

For what it's worth, a lot of the textures used in-game seem to be textures sourced from various CDs from Autodesk to be used with their 3D Studio software (development footage shows it was being used alongside some versions of 3ds Max for 3D visuals.)
It's been a while since I last checked, however I remember Autodesk's Texture Universe (discmaster mirror) had a few texture matches, for example the grass texture and (one of) the sand textures. Those textures seem to also be in some 3D Studio MAX installations, however I haven't had luck finding much else since earlier this year.
Hopefully this helps some.
