What is the spec of your PC? Just to see if there is any components screwing things up.

Nah Debian usually has worse hardware supports compared to Ubuntu where the former has its kernel (which contains drivers) stayed as is (with bugfixes applied only) and the latter tries to backport drivers for newer hardwares into the kernel.

I would recommend Fedora for the best modern hardware support and no-frill defaults.

Uh...Fedora is not related to Debian at all but they are among the nicest distribution you can install. It is the testing branch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, what Linus Torvalds uses on his computer (and also my choice of OS to install on my spare Athlon PC for my sister).

Something goes wrong with your USB controllers? Do you have any old PS/2 keyboards or mouses that you can plug into? I believe modern motherboards still have one of those ports for diagnosting the hardware.

Your Wi-Fi adapter must have Broadcom inside or something to have this bad of a connection...Can you upload pictures of your system for easier helping?

So it was USB sheganigan at play ReallyMad Anyway, maybe you should get a Wi-Fi card instead (or better, wire the Ethernet directly to your tower).
