Re: How to begin decompiling and reverse engeniering an old game
I will say that, if you want to do it, you need: Deep knowledge of x86 assembly, the C compiler, the build toolchain, debugging, and much more. This isn't the kind of thing the average soydev is going to be able to do. Several kilograms of patience. Decomp takes years, even for teams of people. Hell ...

Re: What is the specs of your pc?
I was going to say I have the weakest PC out of all these people until I saw the iMac G5:
- CPU: Intel i3-3220
- GPU: None
- RAM: 24 GB DDR3
- Storage: 256 GB SATA SSD (90% full)
- Networking: A god-awful Wifi b/g/n adapter
- OS: Arch Linux + Hyprland

I jump from project to project a lot, but rn I'm working on: reHack , a terminal-based hacking game about a shadowy organization inspired by games like Hacknet and Uplink. Pythinux , a sort-of operating system written in Python, complete with package manager, user system, program API, etc. Version 3 ...

The Saboteur is a (mostly) forgotten gem. Shame Pandemic was shut down by EA the day it released.

Re: Arch Linux Windows XP rice
When I first joined the Linux community, I was really excited at the possibility of theming my DE to look like my favourite Windows interfaces. How disappointed I was. I used to theme my Windows 10 and tried *everything* to make it look like W7 (which I still think has a nice UI) but I never got far ...

Vaporwave: A (Modern) Retrospective
I'm going to start this EffortPost(tm) by saying that I don't know too much about Vaporwave, or music for that matter. However, the art form has intrigued me in a unique way, and more so once I discovered how it is made and what it represents. History of Vaporwave The history of Vaporwave is long ...

I don't think it's likely that anon is family of James Rolfe, "feels sorry for him", but wants to spread embarrassing rumours about him and brag about knowing his phone number and looking at his house on google maps, to impress strangers on the internet. Nor that anon is a doctor ("it is MY JOB to ...

If the CPU is x86 and from 2002-2012* it will run just fine.
*That time range is just a guess.

Help Needed For Extracting Music From Videogame
I was browsing through my downloaded files and found something I hadn't seen in a while, and thought it'd be a good thing to try. HOVER! is a game slash demo released with CD versions of Windows 95. It's available all over the place, and it's really good. However, something I noticed was that the ...

No Working PC Power Button
A friend of mine complained to me that they could not turn on their computer, so I checked the issue.
The power button was not functional. Everything else is fine, but the power button is not.
I have no idea how to approach this issue. Can anyone suggest a solution[s]?

I wish you luck. I don't have an OG Xbox and I would like to try Burnout 3 without an emulator. If an open-source Burnout 3 is released or something, I imagine adding intuitive PC controls would not be an issue. Again, good luck!

Re: Hacking a G10 Panasonic Plasma TV
I don't, but I do want to know why one would hack a TV. Based on its age, it's probably a non-smart one. However, if it's a smart TV it would be really cool to install custom applications on it, like a modern web browser and maybe even some Android stuff. However, this isn't in my area of "expertise ...
