Hard drive failure is one my biggest fears, especially with my 8-disk home NAS. I guess that's why I should be investing in a backup, preferably offsite (RIP my wallet)

Funnily enough, it's complaining about /dev/ada1 which is actually the TrueNAS boot drive. I know it is, because it sometimes likes to just not power up when the tower boots. Then the UEFI BIOS freaks out thinking there's nothing for it to boot to, usually I'll know this has happened because I can hear the CPU fan running at 100% until I go in and reboot. After a reboot, it's fine.

I guess that's what happens when you boot off a 15-year-old Toshiba Satellite laptop's hard drive.

Yeah i need to setup a offsite backup at somepoint but its just really anoying how expensive a prebuilt nas is. as i would want one that just copys over the internet with like rsync.
