Re: How I set up Windows 7 (or Vista) GPU passthrough with libvirt/QEMU/KVM

UPDATE: colors and resolution are back to normal now! i disabled above 4g decoding in my bios and thats fixed now Ahh nice, glad you got the visuals working. As for USB 3.0, I'm fairly certain the issue is that neither Windows Vista/7 natively support USB 3. I believe there are drivers for it, but ...

Re: How I set up Windows 7 (or Vista) GPU passthrough with libvirt/QEMU/KVM

Hmm I can't see anything else that would cause that. Have you tried the general troubleshooting stuff like firmware updates for your GPU? Are you able to passthrough fine on any other guest OSes (like Windows 10, macOS, Linux, etc.)? Or are these the only passthrough OSes youve tried? I assume you'v...

Re: How I set up Windows 7 (or Vista) GPU passthrough with libvirt/QEMU/KVM

Hello, i've attempted this and of course followed the necessary steps, i get output from my gpu but output is locked at 640x480 resolution, the colors seem to be 4-bit, its overall quite choppy and my usb controller doesn't work ( it is 3.0 so i assume that's got something to do with it) I'm curiou...

Re: Post memes

I feel like I was in school at a really awkward time in technology where, if I was any older I would learned Flash, and if I was any younger I would have learned Scratch, but instead I just learned neither.

I did learn Unity 4 though which very much came in handy for the Sonic Runners decomp EZ

Re: No Working PC Power Button

So you can turn the computer on through other ways, just not the power button? PC power buttons are extremely simple, all they do is short the two PWR SW pins on the motherboard. If it isn't working, it's likely a mechanical issue, like dirt in the button preventing a connection, or the wires not be...

There's a field that says "LEGO1 - Win32 Release". Change it to "ISLE - Win32 Release".

Re: What is LoadAcceleratorA?

Oh yeah, since writing that, I figured out what this did. I just forgot to remove the comment. I actually confirmed that this call achieves absolutely nothing. There is no "AppAccel" resource in ISLE.EXE in any version, and LoadAccelerator even returns NULL indicating failure. I was initia...

Re: Lego Island Engine

It hasn't been decompiled, it is being decompiled. A full decomp, if it ever happens, is probably years away. Its engine is a completely custom in-house one called Omni. It isn't really a suitable fit for ScummVM, which is primarily for 2D/FMV point and click games. But I assume you only bring it up...

VirGL for old versions of Mac OS X?

So far I've been treating "retro GPU passthrough" as a kind of preservation project which allows people to get old OSes running to their fullest extent without needing a whole PC from that era. But there is a snag in that it does require some old hardware. Not a whole computer, but a GPU w...

Re: HyperCard Simulator

Heh I'm so unknowledgeable about pre-OS X that, while I'd heard about HyperCard, I assumed it was a hardware thing like ExpressCard . I had no idea it was actually for software development. Sounds like in theory, yeah it should be completely recreateable. A scripting language strikes me as pretty mo...

A new comprehensive tool and library for extracting and repacking LEGO Island's SI streaming asset pack files. Screenshot_20230530_020453.png While it's achieved the highest compatibility of any SI tool (that we know of), it is still currently in development. Almost everything can be viewed or extra...

It's hard to imagine, but I guess it must work at least some of the time or else they wouldn't do it. Tbf, they probably only need 1 person (out of like 100,000) to hand over their credit card info to make the whole operation worthwhile.

Re: (STORY) My friend gave me a fake gameboy, Im surprised it works.

I did ask the friend I picked this up from, and he said it never came into contact with water Ain't no way, this is definitely water damage of some kind lol. If you haven't already, I'd recommend cleaning off as much of the corrosion as you can with 90%+ alcohol to prevent any further damage. That ...

Re: You can buy a brand new 386 PC in current year?

Saw this on 4chan's /g/ yesterday, I was looking into purchasing one if it wasn't that expensive. Yeah I'm curious how much of that cost is the board vs the screen. I'm not interested in a crappy LCD, especially when it appears to be widescreen and having to grotesquely stretch a 640x480 signal. I ...

You can buy a brand new 386 PC in current year?

I just stumbled upon this handheld device being sold on AliExpress. Like a lot of generic Chinese products, it seems to go by many different names (Hand386? Book8088?) but the more I looked into it, the more interesting I found it. Hand386-handheld-computer-386CPU-windows95-DOS-system-retro-notebook...

Re: Samsung TV suddenly... stopped working?

The 5 blinking LEDs are interesting, it suggests the TV has actually detected a problem and is trying to communicate it. A quick search seems to find what you found - it indicates some kind of power issue. As SONIC122 says, backlight feels very likely. It's generally the biggest power draw in an LCD...

Re: How can I decompile Windows EXE files to C or C++ code?

If you just want a decompilation of Minesweeper, one was already completed over 3 years ago that you can download right now. As for your actual question, the answer is no, there is no software that can just decompile an EXE into C/C++ code at this time. But that's not to say decompilation is impossi...
